                          Routine and Programming

In order for children to be successful, they need structure that allows for flexibility. Our daily routine gives the children predictability in their day but also allows for adjustments to be made in order to best serve the children in care. Being a small program gives us the flexibility to adjust our schedule accordingly to meet the needs of the students and work around the unpredictable New England weather.  We love the outdoors and believe that fresh air and sunshine can do wonders for children’s ability to focus and learn. Weather permitting, we take every opportunity to be outside where the children can explore their surroundings.

We do celebrate holidays. If there are any holidays that are important to your family, please let me know  We will also celebrate every child’s birthday.

Curriculum

Our goal at Precious Moments is to provide a safe, loving, and engaging atmosphere where children can work to gain developmentally appropriate skills and autonomy through both purposeful play and structured activities that will allow them to build a love for learning.

Our Play-Based Curriculum focuses on the whole child and covers all areas of development  - Physical (Gross and Fine motor), Cognitive, Social/Emotional, and Language.  Research has shown that children are more motivated to learn and develop a positive attitude towards learning when they are involved in experiences that are meaningful and encourage them to develop lifelong skills. Other benefits of  play-based learning are:

Encourages Language development                               Pre-Literacy and Math Skills

Boosts Self Confidence                                                     Promotes Independence

Improves Problem Solving Skills                             Fosters Creativity and Imagination

Helps with Self Regulation                                       Develop Social Skills

Cooperation and Teamwork Skills

All of our activities can be altered to fit each child’s individual developmental needs.
